FIND YOUR SIZE

The first step to finding your size is to decide which pattern cut suits you best.

The JSM Pants Block Double Dart Pattern came first. It has two darts in the back and more darting all around. It is designed for the person with a smaller waist relative to size around hips. If most pants you try on are too big in the waist when they fit through the hips, you will want to check out the Double Dart Pattern.

The Single Dart Pattern was developed from the Double Dart Pattern by removing one of the back darts to let out the pattern waist, thus the name Plus Waist and the use of the “+” sign after the size letter when clarity is needed. The Single Dart Pattern is designed for the person with minimal waist to hip difference. If most pants you try on in the store are too big in the hips and too small in the waist you will want to check out the Single Dart (Plus Waist) Pattern.

Measure your waist at your natural waistline imagining the tape measure to be your waistband.

Measure your hips around the fullest part. If your measurement around the torso at the thigh level is larger than around your hips, use the thigh measurement. If the circumference around the abdomen is larger than around the hips, use your abdomen measurement.

Subtract your waist measurement from your hip measurement to find your waist-to-hip difference. Compare your waist to hip difference to the chart.

To use the charts locate your measurements on the chart and then look up the column to pinpoint the size. If between sizes choose the larger size especially if using pin-fitting methods from JSM Pants 4U. It is easier to measure excess fabric pinned into tucks than it is to guess at how much to let out.
